I answer by never saying hello; it really confuses the computer. It is programmed to respond to the word "Hello?".
So I listened for "3" sec only then hang up. If there is not a response within the "3" sec rule, it IS a computer dialed call.
It will quit calling the number thinking it is a company or gov entity.
Received a call from 786-286-2856 today (April 15, 2015) at 1:22pm. Wasn't home so went to voice mail, however no message left. Caller ID stated "SERVICE CARE". I receive many calls everyday with no one leaving a message. I have reported them to DNC, but nothing is ever done. I don't care if it's a charity, which is exempt from complaints to DNC. They are still calling at hours when one shouldn't be disturbed due to dinner, to early or too late. They send enough solicitations, so if I wanted to donate I would have. The scams that come in are so obvious that it's a shame that an elder has to receive these calls and possibly lose their life savings. I for one wish the government would stop these calls once and for all. Let them waste the paper and stamp, then I can shred it and not have to ignore my phone or be disturbed at an inopportune time.
This was well documented on CBS news. Do not take or return the calls. The idea is to get your Doctor's name. A pre filled form is sent for the Doctor's signature. Your medical insurance is billed thousands for little jars of cream.
