That's true Hilly.... And they can be a bit like a high pitch salesman. I toild them off the bat I didn't have money.... then they insisted on sending me an envelope to hold, like I will have the money in 30 days. Is Florida State Fraternal Order of Police exempt from the DO NOT CALL Registry?
My father is a retired police officer and my son is actively a police officer. The FOP does not give money to the families of fallen police officers......In the 25 years my father was on the street protecting everyone, not once did they give to any officers family that was killed in the line of duty money.
To everyone who has been annoyed by phone calls from these guys:
Got a call from this organization. Filed a report with the FCC, and a week or so later got a letter in the mail from the FCC saying they investigated my complaint, but found that "the facts presented in this case do not indicate a violation of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, or the FCC's rules on which we can take enforcement action."
Apparently, because the Florida Fraternal Order of Police Memorial Foundation bills itself as an NPO, they are legally allowed to place their pre-recorded calls, only, however, if they call after 8 am or before 9 pm (outside of those hours, it's illegal).
I called 786 358-5543 (the number they originally called me from) and got a recording that, among other things, enabled me to have my number removed from their calling list (effective within 72 hours, supposedly).
Hope this helps.
