Soon after answereing an e- mail cliaming I'd won a prize, and it appears to be the daily prizr at publishers clearing house, etc. This call came in/ I did not answer and they did not leave a message. The info requested got too personal, no credit card was asked for but it was beyond name and address which they have, etc. I didn't finish the fields. the no call doesn't really work, as I have subscribed to free news letters on line, etc. and they get the right to solicit because they get access from advertisers?
Please make it stop
I filled out an online survey for Walmart, only it was not the official site. Now they are calling my home, cell and texting me unwanted harassing messages.
I feel Walmart should be investigating this as well, because as a customer looking to enter into a chance to win a gift card after a major purchase, I will NEVER shop at Walmart or participate in these entries again.
While this is not Walmart's intended result, it is still effecting costumers all over the country with this very realistic scam that uses Walmart and Sam's Club logos, trademarks, and information suggesting that it is all legitimate.
The number below offers a 100 (not 1,000 like on the receipt) gift voucher if I press 1 after the message. I did not do this.
- You just gave them a valid, working phone number (yours) that has a lot of seconds of "listening time" attached to it. THAT is a gold mine for a telemarketer who is selling phone #'s to other TM companies! These people get paid by the second of "listening time" per each working #. If you put them on 'the radio', or just let them sit there, they just go to another line and keep dialing. They love it! You are making them $$$$$$$$$$$!! If you just hang up the phone or look at the caller id and do NOT answer at all, they get Nothing.
- After they have called several times and get Nothing, they usually quit. The computerized calls like, "Hi. This is Heather at card services .... etc. ", (You all know this one, right?) will keep calling until some one or thing takes your # out of their system.
- Don't give these TM people the time of day unless you really want what they are offering. The more they get, the more agressive they get in their sales offers, and the more your "HOT #" gets distributed. "There is a sucker born every minute" (George Hull - P.T. Barnum's competitor (http://www.historybuff.com/library/refbarnum.html)), DON'T be one of them.
