Lawbreaking telescammers ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.
Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The most effective thing to do is to get a call blocking device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.
Google "call blocker" for more information. There are available apps (some free) for smart phones, and services and devices for landlines.
If you cannot use or afford such a tool, then:
• Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service. Telespammers usually hang up after 3 or 4 rings.
• Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers! All that does is verify your phone number! And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete. If the incoming call was important, they would have left a message!
• If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scam" (or similar). Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group. (This also works for smartphones). The spammer will usually hang up before the phone goes to voicemail.
• Another option, for cell phones: Assign a "silent ringtone" as DEFAULT. Then, assign your favorite ringtones to all known friends / family / business numbers. That way, you will hear rings ONLY from those you wish to contact! You will not hear scammers' rings, even if they change their number! (This is also called "whitelisting", and will cause you to miss calls from non-whitelisted numbers).

Didn't leave a message so I called the number back & it was a recording stating that they could get me a car loan, even with bad credit. Not falling for it!
This phone number has called me 32 times straight, in one day. I have records. Its a telemarker telling me I am approved for a car loan. I don't need it. I have asked them to remove my phone number and they haven't.

This company uses a computerized system (robots) to call telephone numbers. Then when you answer the call the computer makes a note that someone has answered the call. This is why when people answer these calls there is nobody on the other line. When you answer, this tells the computer that this number is to a real person and sends this information back to the computer. Then, these SCAMMERS starts calling from multiple phone numbers to get you to send them money through moneygram, green dot debit card or any other (non-traceable) financial means to STEAL your MONEY.
The best thing is to NOT accept calls from a number that doesn't have the name of their company or of the person calling in the NAME section of your phone's caller ID.
My Caller ID showed these in the Name section:
- Houston TX
- Fort Pierce FL
- 800 Service
- Name Unavailable
- and some calls even have the number in both the NAME and NUMBER sections.
Don't even answer these calls to show the computer you're a real person. Just report these numbers right away. This number that called me have been also linked to these other numbers (caller ID name).
They are probably using a masking program that allows you to anonymously change the number and caller ID name.
The guy has a foreign accent possibly from India!
Report these numbers and tell the government to get to the bottom of this as I have been receiving multiple calls from all of these numbers back to back just like most of you have.
I RECEIVE Daily calls from this number. Today a spanish accent speaking guy called and when i told him he had the wrong number he called me an "[***]" I called right back and got him on the phone by pushing one. I immediately recognized his voice and told him i was going to report him, he mumbled something in spanish and hung up. Who is going to do something about this fake auto financing in Homestead Florida?
