I'm on a do not call list and this number keeps calling me... ive told them many time not to call. but they are up to calling 4 or 5 times a day, Who do I get in touch with for leagle advice on this caller?
Called today at 2:46 pm eastern time. I didn't answer and no message was left. CID said Magazine Subscription. I never answer calls from names and numbers I don't know or call them back. Probably a scam.
A relative has been hounded at least two dozen times in the past year, and even longer by mail, to resume a periodical subscription which was allowed to lapse a few years ago. He's told the call center reps repeatedly he's not interested. Naturally they persist, and will keep changing the offer terms to hustle him into any agreement. The calls come in clusters every few weeks. In vain I have instructed him to say specifically that their calls are not wanted, which triggers legal provisions in the TCPA and Telemarketing Sales Rule. I think any presumed business relationship is long over and we'll have to consider litigation if the correct magic words are used and the calls are not halted voluntarily.
I believe this to be the same caller, shifting aliases and often found using a regional exchange to fool call recipients who may be blocking unfamiliar area codes. Signs point to CDS Global in Boone, Iowa, which handles subscription sales for a rather large number of periodicals. But I need to grill one of the phone drones myself before I can be certain.
The first call came late yesterday, following two others with different CID which for the moment are considered a possible relation. Today, a Federal holiday, when sales calls are banned in my state, this bunch made a "double tap" call. They abandoned one on the second ring, then called again only a few seconds later. This is one trendy method of defeating call blockers, which in this case was a wasted effort. The calls which do connect have consistently abandoned ten seconds after the recorder answers.
I'll also note that the Caller ID CNAM reads "Magazine Subcri". Not only are they quickly becoming obnoxious, they cannot spell the thing being sold.
