Called my grandparents and asked for me, when prompted for more information on who the caller was and what it was they were calling about, the line went dead.
Recieved the call this morning 8 am MST and the message said,
"This is Lisa from the offices of Mr. John Tayalor. Mr. Taylor needs to verify some information with you regarding a file that has been referred to our office. You need to call him directly, his # is 1 - 866 - 2187, and he will be available until 7 pm tonight. Again it is important that you return Mr. Taylor's call today, at - 801 - 852 - 2187."
I do not answer calls from a name or number I do not recognize as a general rule of practice. I listened to this message, and I do not know a John Taylor, nor do I have anything that would relate to one. In a phone search of "his" number to call back I recieved the following result
"Your search - 1-866-852-2178 - did not match any documents.
Suggestions:
-Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
-Try different keywords.
-Try more general keywords."
I tend to be leary of any calls that ask you to call them back- especially when I do not recognize the name, and cannot find an associated company in which I did not initiate the call. Especially if "information" needs to be verified. So in my opinion this is a phone/Phishing scam and the numbers should be blocked from your phone, or reported to your phone company.
sorry I typed the number wrong in my search, but the results were the same. a second search said it was a collection agency, and I do not have any outstanding balances.
