It IS the number for Western Governors University - which IS an accredited online college where you can complete your bachelor's or master's degree. They have four areas - Nursing, Teaching, Business, and Information Technology. Try looking them up online - it is for real. It is also not that easy to get into, so no one is trying to 'trick you' into attending. If they called you 'unsolicited', then it is most like a wrong number. That's all. I hate the fake solicitation calls from random numbers as much as anyone, but sheesh, at least recognize when the call may be due to a legitimate mistake and chill. I got called from this number today and I am in process of enrolling, which is why they called. I didn't recognize the number so I checked here, as soon as I saw it was WGU I called them back, and it was a missed call from my enrollment counselor. No big conspiracy.
FYI
I am a middle school teacher in sped and I contacted wgu to pursue accreditation credits to seek another endorsement. The teachers union runs a program called NEA academy that is associated with WGU. Don't believe me? Google NEA Academy. The school and number is legit. It's associated with the NEA teachers union.
I received a call on my cell, did not answer. I had not called this number before nor ever expressed an interest in online education with WGU or anyone else. I did, however, recently request car insurance quotes online and have experienced an increase in the number of unsolicited, non-car insurance related calls since then. Hmmmmm. I'm just sayin'.
