They just called me twice within two minutes but left no message. I have done some job searches online in the past two months. Reading 800notes gives me some idea that these are likely career counselors. A similar call I did answer kept asking me personal questions without properly identifying themselves, which felt more like a phishing scam than a legit business. It's a new day, another blocked number.
They called today. I did not answer and they did not leave any voice message. As I am in a job search, these annoying calls must be likely from career advisor or back to university places but not from any serious work offer. As far as I know, it is illegal to collect phone numbers to use them for any different purpose as these guys are doing.
I received a call from this number and when I answered, a woman said her name was Amy, an employment specialist. At first, I got curious because I am a HR manager and currently hiring some people for a couple of positions. I asked her what company she was calling from, at first she wasn't saying anything except her name and her "title". I got little suspicious and really curious. As a HR person, I can't ignore anything related to HR without confirming. I kept asking what company and at one point she said "you contacted us, aren't you looking to further your education?". This creeped me out because I am starting my Master's program in August. I decided to ask one more time and was going to hung up on her. Finally, she said she was calling from jobster.com which I have no relation or knowledge of. So, I just said "I'm sorry, I didn't contact you, I am not looking for a job and I'm not familiar with your website" and hung up.
