The number is the Salt Lake City police association. They call a few times a year to try to collect donations for their shop with a cop, or summer burn camps. It's legit, they don't take money over the phone, they mail you a form which includes their non profit tax info.
This is the Salt Lake Police Association, asking for donations for "shop with a cop", I asked them to send the info to my P.O. Box so I could verify their validity. They sent the info and it checks out, this is an annual thing they do every year for less-privileged kids, and I think it is sweet.
These guys get away with this stuff year after year. It's not sweet, you're being ripped off. These folks make you believe that the money goes to the kids, but only a few pennies on the dollar actually go to help them. Your money has been lining the pockets of the guy who runs it.
