I had a posting on Craigslist(New York) as well and I received text messages inquiring about the ad I had posted. I was told the person was out of Utah( number search does show Utah #). They told me they were in the military as instructor for new recruits. They then asked for my Paypal address to make payment. I asked how they would then be getting the item I had posted and they said that there would be a "pick up agent" that would come after I received payment. I could be over reacting but this type of transaction is exactly what Craigslist and other sites say to stay away from. The whole thing just seemed odd to me. I never gave my Paypal info or my phone info that they wanted. Hope this can deter others from possible scammers that may be out there
Some guy responded to my Craigslist add for a 5th wheel I had posted. This guy was very patient, I asked a lot of questions; I didn't trust it but, used the security of paypal to send an invoiced sale. The guy said he was out of the country but wanted to buy my trailer for his cousin. I did online searches & tried to keep from getting robbed; the best he got was was my phone number & email address.
Be careful, if it seems like a scam it is a scam!

got a similar text from this number in response to the craigslist post. same story: want to get an item for cusin, will pay full price through paypal as soon as will get a paypal email. the shipping company will check the item upon the payment being processed....
