A Southen speaking man called asking for my Husband. He wanted to talk to him about a promised donation. He ignored my requests for a web addy and gave me his manager's phone # (801-575-2102) which I then phoned. The manager confirmed that they are paid telemarketers who take 75% of the donations for their use and give 25% to the burn camp.
Those working the phones and those who are behind the scenes in this "charity" based telemarketing business do profit from your donation. Then they report to give a small percentage to the charity. I am grateful to have learned of the burn camp and can now donate directly through the U of U burn center so that 100% of my donation will go directly to the charity instead of first being funneled into the telemarketing Company and its employee's pockets.
I do not have any reason to believe that they are firefighters as the name implies. Ask to be placed on their do not call list and donate directly is what I chose to do. The manager volunteered that they have no connection to the Oklahoma nor Florida version of this scam. Always ask what percentage goes to the charity, as they do not come forward with the truth on thier own. I am unhappy with the manipulative methods employed by this deceptive telemarketing Company.
