Lady named Emily Freeman called my parents house from this number, said she is calling from Sheffield and Baker Associates for an unpaid cash advance in whuch they will submit notice of refusal if I do not pay a minimum of half. The notice will be sent to state of Texas (where advance was given) and a felony warrant issued for me. She did say she would give me until monday at 5pm to come up with the half. She was not rude, gave me all numbers and addresses I requested. I had moved from Texas a long time ago and forgot about this. I am going to call original company and try to wirk with them. If they wont accept payments i can afford, then i guess I will go to jail.
I received the same message from my parents and it freaked them out. I reviewed the FTC Website and learned what questions to ask this individual before phoning them. After I spoke with them I contacted the party they say I owed the debt too (Advance America) and found out exactly what was going on. They said it is a complete B***S*** Scam and directed me to a section of their website dealing with these individuals. Breathe Easy!!! You are not going to go to jail! Even if you did default on the loan by not paying it back, It is not a Bad Check that you wrote! It is a Loan you defaulted on!!! Defaulting on a loan is not a Felony whatsoever! While I was speaking to the Customer Service Rep at the corporate office of Advance America she made me forward all information including Telephone Numbers, Validation Letters, Emails, Names Etc... To the FTC so I would suggest you do the same!
Do not pay them I called my attn. generals office and they called them and then called me back and said not to pay it that it is a scam !!!!!!!!!!!!! call your local attn. generals office !!!!!!!!!!!!
