For the past 6 months I have been getting every kind of crank call under the sun up to twenty per day on both home and cell. I've monitored my credit reports and no problem there. BUT, just now received a call from Money Mart corp offices saying I owe them money. I told them to notify me in writing and I will challenge the debt and they can then prove debt and we'll take it from there. When they verified my address it was for an address in another state. At that point I gave them the address of my attorney's office so that mine doesn't get tangled up in this mess. I have a common name and this isn't my first time at the rodeo on a confused ID problem. They apparently ran my name through the credit bureaus and just started calling. If they post anything to my credit it will be illegal but these people sound just that shady.

Money Mart is a legal operation in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, I don't know about their collection practices. They're a licensed lender, though. But if someone else took a loan, and put you as a reference, then they will call you too.
