Posted a wedding dress on classifieds. The guy said he was deaf so couldn't talk on the phone, sent me a fake check from "Harvard University" for 700 more than asking price. Then I was supposed to meet up to give his "friend" the dress. What an idiot.
Yep. Exactly the same thing with my classified at on KSL. Got a cryptic text and the same "hearing Impaired" excuse why we couldn't talk on the phone. It got as far as them sending me a check in the mail, written for $750 over the classified asking price. The check is hilarious. From "Harvard University" and signed by... Harvard. WOW. You'd have to be a total idiot to fall for it. I can imagine a room full of derelict crack heads dreaming this scam up. Any advice on how I can help catch these sad criminals?
Just received a check from harvard too wanting to buy my furniture from an ad I posted on KSL, 500 dollars more than the asking price and wants me to meet his "agent" at Walmart to refund him the difference. Does anyone actually fall for this?
We got a call from them wanting to meet in Walmart parking lot, the first calls were the UTAH number but then they called from a Maryland number 443-360-2717, there is another number too, I don't have it handy at the moment. The name on the caller ID said David Salazar and there are 2 David Salazars listed on Plum Point Rd. in Huntingtown Maryland. One of them owns the property and is on the county records. One is 41 and one is 66 so I am assuming they are father and son. One of them has a criminal record from 20 years ago for telephone abuse/misuse but that could be calling someone they were not supposed to call. Are any of you in Maryland?
