FRAUD alert: Left a message that identified itself as IRS, informing that it is filing a law suit against me. I need to call 803-349-7046 immediately. There have been a lot of fraudulent calls like this. Some people fell for it and paid them to "settle" the law suit.
SCAM ALERT!! Received a phone call from 802-349-7046 at about 11am, Mar 23rd, 2016 from an automated female voice stating: "Internal Revenue Services- The reason of this call is to inform you that the IRS is filing lawsuit against you. To give you more information about this case file please call immediately on our department number 803-349-7046, i repeat 803-349-7046, thank you."
NOTE: the areas codes from the phone call that came into my phone and the number to call to inquire change from (802) to (803).
From what I have read online - the IRS does not call people and threaten them. The IRS will communicate with you through a letter, and the letter will have clear instructions on what you need to do next.
