1. Do not answer the phone if you see an unknown number on your Caller ID ... let it go to answering machine or voicemail. Many telescammers hang up after 3 rings.
2. If you have a smartphone, get one of the inexpensive or free phone blocker apps at your online app store, and learn how to use it.
3. If your cel is not "smart", read the manual to learn how to set up a "group". Assign the scammer's phone number to that group. Also assign a "silent ring" to that group. You will not hear future calls from that number.
4. Contact your phone service provider. They may have a facility or method to allow you to block numbers.
5. If you buy things online, you might want to google "phone blocker" to see what devices or apps Amazon or other sites have to offer for landlines or smartphones.

This number has called my elderly MOM way too many times for way too long; seven calls last week alone with three in one day! Two of the calls this week were after 8 p.m., the third call on 7/31/14 was at 8:45 when my MOM was in bed! The calls are intrusive & of harassment nature; not to say anything about affecting my MOM's mental health from all the calls. I tried calling the number yesterday to learn that is a "fund raising center" but no one available; will try again on Mon. & if no results guess it is time to get the local Sheriff's Dept & possibly the Attorney General's Office involved.
