I fell for this 3 years ago and they signed me up for a bogus magazine subscription where they were charging me almost $100 a month for 2 magazines. They I canceled 2 days later (I had 7 days to cancel). Didn't hear from them again for almost a year when they called and told me my account was delinquent and I owned them tons of money. When I told them I had canceled, they said they had no record of it. I could either pay for the entire subscription for like 2 years (I think somewhere around $780) or get a "buy out" and pay them $250. All the while they are telling me they have already contacted debt collectors and all this stuff about my credit. I was like 20 and had no idea what was going on. I ended up paying them the $250
They just called me again tonight... I guess this is 2-3 years after the whole incident. They called and said they needed to update my information for my magazine subscription. When I asked what subscription the girl listed off like 8 different magazines. I told her I didn't have any current magazines and she said, "Oh, your accThe only reason I'm not freaking out about this is because since then I have gotten married (changed my last name) and closed all the credit cards/debit cards associated with this when it initially happened. Hope this helps some how. ount shows that it is still active and you still have a couple months." I told her I wanted to cancel and she said she would have to transfer me to her supervisor. Not before I updated my address... (I'm an idiot). The address she had on file was the address of where I lived when everything happened to begin with, 3 years ago.
So, when she was transferring me I hung up. The number immediately called back and I didn't answer. My husband ended up calling the number back where the man who answered apologized and said he would remove us from the list and delete all our information.
802-753-1469, 218-260-2431 AND 678-935-7298 and more number to be added
they have started calling my son's cell phone. he is military and away from home, this is unwanted as I have power of attorney and all his mail and calls go to me. his phone is for communication home only. he is very upset and I am trying to figure out first how to block the numbers then second ... well go after them with some hell hath no fury .... my son's time and phone is not for harassment unless it is from his mommy !!!!!
I will find these people , i will call, i will blog ... I will find a way to stop them if only from their current numbers but it will be done !
I have read it is a magazine company and I have also read it is a credit card phishing scam using the name of American Periodicals Services
They call acting like I have a magazine account with them and try to update or change my personal information. If they keep calling me, I'll fly out to Vermont and pay them a visit. By the time I leave, they won't be able to dial a phone. I'm tired of this crap, completely sick of it.
I was recently the victim of a scam with a base in Maryland, whose number is (410) 457-7461; DO NOT ANSWER THIS NUMBER. These people asked me about my magazine subscription with them, similar to the information and situation of (802) 753-1469. My recent bad experience has led me to be wary of all phone numbers such as these, so my advice would be to ignore these calls as I have done. It may be annoying to have them keep calling you, but ths is a small price to pay for the knowledge that your money and personal information is just that little bit safer.
This number calls me everyday even on Sunday's, I don't receive any magazines nor do I want any, and I really wish they would stop calling my phone before I decide to change my number.
