I answered the call. It was a robot, automated voice. I know I do not owe the IRS any money, furthermore, the IRS will contact via their normal standard practice of sending a notice in the mail. I moved this number to my automatic reject list.
I had a call this afternoon from this number, informing me that the IRS was about to file suit against me on a tax matter. Fortunately I know that the IRS never makes its first contact by phone, and never threatens the max in an opening inquiry. I gave serious thought to calling these jamokes and telling them that impersonating the IRS was a serious federal offense, but thought it better to come here first
Same thing here. Didn't call back. Fully agree that this is not how the IRS operates, so this is undoubtedly a scam to get people's social security numbers. Don't call them back!
I received a phone call earlier this morning from this number. I was told that if I didn't pay 6,000+ immediately, the criminal charges against me would proceed and the police would be at my door within 45 minutes with an arrest warrant. SCAM
