that is partly true, non profits are exempt but if you ask to have your number taken off the legit ones will do so. it is the scammers that use non profit as a cover that you have to watch out for.
IIRC charities and political orgs themselves are exempt from DoNotCall regulation but third-parties calling on their behalf are NOT exempt but must obey DoNotCall regs.
Get these calls every day don't answer anymore. I should just get rid of my phone the only calls that come in are scammers wanting my money. The good thing is with caller id and Internet I can chreck out these numbers. The bad thing is if you want to give money who can you trust anymore.
Instead of trusting frauds on the phone, you can donate your money directly in person. The frauds on the phone aren't helping any charity. They are helping themselves by ripping people off.
Been getting calls from them lately I do not answer my wife did once they say they are a charity for children but I think it is a sham DO NOT ANSWER they should not be calling in the first place
