this number calls 810-244-4230 me and just says their name and demands to talk to you but wont tell you anything but want you to tell them everything about yourself im not answering or telling you anything people.
Caller id says "Flint, MI" Some outfit: Merchant Medical or Medical Financial claiming I owe money to Detroit Oxygen!
They wanted my credit card number and checking account number. I told them I never give this information out over the phone to strangers. They swore that they were legit and in business over 50 years etc...
I told them that I would write out a check and mail it to their street address and THEY REFUSED TO TAKE A PAYMENT THAT WAY!
So immediately, my built in FRAUD ALERT alarm went off, they explained that I have to send it in Federal Express or UPS only! But they don't take a street address! I informed this fast-talking fraudster that FE and UPS ONLY deliver to street addresses never P.O. boxes and his information was wrong. He refused to give me a street address and then threatened to ruin my credit forever in 30 days, THEN he informed me that this was an attempt to collect on a bill!
I told him I would contact Detroit Oxygen DIRECTLY and hung up on this fraudster-rip off artist! I then called Detroit Oxygen and they said that ALL PAYMENTS should be sent to them directly and to call in the morning to the billing department and verify if I owed any money!
So I will.
Detroit Oxygen had never heard of this fraudster in Flint and don't use "outside collection agencies"
I will be reporting this to the MICHIGAN ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE in the morning!
See, there are severe penalties if you rip people off using the U.S. Postal Service, which do not apply if you pay by phone or Federal Express or UPS (a private courier service) Protect yourself, never give out ANY personal information or pay a bill over-the-phone to just any random person who calls you out of the blue AND YOU DON'T KNOW/NEVER HEARD OF BEFORE!
Contact the hospital/ medical provider directly and check and/or pay them in person or via the United States Postal Service with a Check or Money Order!
Just called and asked for someone named LuJean (?) whom I've never heard of. Caller id said Private. If they call again I'm blocking the number. Lady was polite though.
They are a harassing debt collecting compant that buys up old debts and then tries to collect on them.
The debt has been SOLD to them by the original creditor who has now written it off their books but this company buys up and tries to make a living out of collecting. It is LEGIT but not a great way to make a living and all their collectors work on commission.
