I'd just like to say that the state of Michigan their charities and fundraisers / telefunders / solicitors are all protected by their incompetent "Charitable Trust Section Database Search" under their Attorney General Bill Schuette. I tried to find / search multiple charities and fundraisers including "Associated Community Services" that their system was unable to pull up any registered information. Great consumer protection services , that should not be emulated, in Michigan! http://www.ag.state.mi.us/CharitableTrust/frmDefault.aspx I was able to find the legal charity name BCRF Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Inc showing no fundraisers / solicitors here https://csapp.800helpfla.com/cspublicapp/giftgiversquery/giftgiversquery.aspx a search here http://www.sos.wa.gov/charities/search_result ... i_no=&ein=&pct= pulls up reference to multiple like named charities in their database. But also pulls up a reference to Associated Community Services https://www.sos.wa.gov/charities/search_detail_cfr.aspx?cfr_id=364 showing the list of charities that include multiple like named Breast Cancer charities.
This call center number identifying itself as Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Inc is a deceptive and abusive call tactic used within fundraiser / telefunder networks designed to prey on the American consumer.
The FTC's TSR does protect you from predatory charity / fundraiser call tactics that include being placed on internal do not call lists that should be applied at the state level as in Florida see https://www.fldnc.com/About.aspx Effective July 1, 2013

Hey
Tred you might want to read this before posting misinformation:

6. Do the do not call provisions of the TSR cover calls soliciting money for charities?

Charities that are calling on their own behalf to solicit charitable contributions are not covered by the requirements of the national registry. However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from or on behalf of that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000 .
7. Do the do not call provisions of the TSR cover tax-exempt organizations?

Entities that have been granted tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code are not necessarily Exempt Organizations for purposes of the National Do Not Call Registry.

For example, in FTC v. National Consumer Council, Inc., and FTC v. Debt Management Foundation Services, Inc., the FTC successfully challenged the status of a purported nonprofit organization whose role in fact was simply to generate leads for other firms which then charged consumers thousands of dollars in fees for their services.

The reference you are looking for is here under this link, sparky, https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-cent ... les-rule#nature  & https://www.ftc.gov/tips- and them being able to make ONE call while not accessing any state or federal do not call registry.
The consumers reaction to a call entitles him to be placed on ALL charity and fundraiser databases that include charities calling on their own behalf.
The professional and ethical charities and fundraisers will abide by all requests on first contact or by contacting their headquarters with a request. Those unprofessional, unethical, and corrupt charities and fundraisers that don't abide by any request for placement on their Internal Do Not Call lists under all database need to formally addressed as under Florida's policy see https://www.fldnc.com/About.aspx  Effective July 1, 2013
Having some automated message at some undefined call center number does not make it legit!
