Wow! You must be feeling pretty self-righteous about now. You actually believe in a red thing with horns, a tail and a pitch fork? Should one "fear" a God of love? Sin? You mean as in the "sin" of judging others?
Caller ID: “Port Huron MI”; Caller #: 810 662-0010; Call Time & Date: 1:35 pm ET, Fri, 18 Sep 15.
We have blanket "Call Blocking" on our land-line, if a party doesn't display a Caller ID. However, the more persistent fraudulent callers will supply a Caller ID that they hope results in a pick-up response.
These days it is unusual for me to answer a call I can't readily identify, but I was expecting a call from a business in the Central Time-zone, & when I saw the Caller ID: “Port Huron MI”, I thought that it might be the anticipated call, & I picked up.
The caller (female, possibly early- to mid-20s) asked to speak to a particular member of our 2-person household. I asked "Who's calling, please", in a firm, no-nonsense voice, & after an ever-so-slight hesitation, the caller asked (perhaps a little timidly) to speak to Mr. [First & Last Name] or Mrs. [First & Last Name]. Without acknowledgement as to who I am, I asked "What does this concern?". The caller may have been a little up-beat at the chance for an opening when she responded “Childhood Leukemia”, but I immediately said: "NO. Remove our number from your call list", and terminated the call.
I checked Charity Navigator "dot" org, for non-profit organizations concerned with childhood leukemia, but while there are over 100 *unrated* "organizations" allegedly concerned about childhood leukemia, none have met the criteria of the IRS.
There was *one* rated organization that is recognized by the IRS (and it appears that may be only a nominal recognition).
In any case, "810 662-0010" was *not* a number associated with the rated organization.".
Back to that one rated organization: Charity Navigator gives them *zero* out of 4 stars, and their over-all score is *26.93* out of 100. While the alleged organization claims that only 6.1% of the monies they receive goes to Administration, they also report that a whopping 71.5% goes to "Fund-raising"!!! So by their own reporting, only 22.4% goes to the stated program. As long as an "organization" gives something to their stated program ....
