I received a call from someone claiming to work for Microsoft and noted that they were seeing a lot of errors coming from my Windows system. He asked who the primary user was and I said that it was me. The call came from 270-874-2985. The rep simply identified himself as "T" and had an Indian accent. I asked if he physically worked for Microsoft and he said he did. I asked where we was located and he said Brooklyn, NY. Interesting as the phone number is associated with Hopkinsville, KY. With full alerts up and knowledgeable on how computers work, I thought I would see where he was going to go with this. He had me press the Windows button and the letter "R" to run Event Viewer (EVENTVWR) and yep, there are a lot of errors and warnings. He then passed me to someone who could help resolve my computer problems. It was hard to understand the next person, so they told me to hang up and they would call me back. I did and then received a number from 812-200-9689. It was much clearer and the rep said his name was Roger Williams and that he was the manager of Windows. Roger then wanted me to press Windows "R" again and this time type "www.ammyy.com" into the run box. I told him that I did not feel comfortable at all doing that and he said that he understands, that he was just calling to help me fix my computer since I was a valued Windows customer. He also said that he was not going to force me to save my computer. He then repeated it before I ended the call.
