These people called me 9 times today!
Same IRS scam. They used 2 different numbers today, the one post above showed Dale, IN. and 765-204-0911 Kirklin, IN.
As soon as you answer a mechanical female voice says, " This is the IRS and there is a lawsuit against you....call 812-301-6534 immediately. (called ID shows= Dale IN 1-812-301-6534)
They have probably called me about 18 times. We pay our taxes immediately and are up to date on all financial matters we are not stupid or gullible. This type of scam has been reported on the news. Don't be a victim, hang up!
CALLER ID: "Out of Area"
Automated female voice left message:
" Hello, we have been trying to reach you. This call is officially a final notice from the IRS, Internal Revenue Sevice. The reason of this call is to inform you the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file, please call immediately on our department number 812-301-6534. I repeat, 812-301-6534. Thank you."
I am aware the IRS does not use phone contact.
NOTE: The IRS has had to repeat every few months when this scam comes back around - they NEVER contact you by telephone during any sort of initial inquiry. I know because I owed them from an inadvertent mistake filing my late parent's final return. IRS always contacts by US Post first, and I sat waiting on hold for two hours to get through to an agent later. The scammers take advantage of fear, guilt over folks fudging penny ante stuff, and many don't stop to consider the tedious, slow processes government agencies must abide by before any legal actions would or could be taken. And logically, WTF is somebody in Dale, Indiana doing for the IRS anyhow?
