Person identified himself as 'Jeff ?' calling regarding a legal matter and gave a file number to discuss couple options to get the matter significantly reduced.

I suspect this is really a collection agency. Same story as 21 Dec. call above. Whenever they leave a file number it's likely to be someone attempting to collect. Luckily for me, it's not a legitimate debt or a worry.
actually this is a real deal,, this is a company called emerge180.. they help settle debt. what they do is they search court records for new filings, so if you owe some one and they are filing in court against you,, this group will call you to try to settle that debt..
its a good service but you can do the settlement yourself with out them.
