I am an Investigator with Portland General Electric in Portland, OR. This same number attempted same scam with our customers. This may well be the same group doing this scam using "Magic Jack" and now toll-free numbers for last 2 1/2 years, throughout the U.S. They are calling from out of country. This is a scam, they call you saying they are going to shut off your electric, I hung up did not call the number they provided and then called my electric company- turned out they used that empty line trick where they played the message with the same number they provided me (800)362-1781 ex 1307 I then called the number- talked to the guy with proof i paid it. They then said it was too far past due and I needed to pay cash. I told then I would go down the office and pay them. He said I had to get a prepaid card at a local Kum and Go. Hung up with him. Called local electric with my cell and they said they have been doing it all day.
