Hey they've changed their number again. It is 813 444 4298. "Tori Dixon" said we had an outstanding debt. Wouldn't let us speak to a supervisor, wouldn't give us an address, sent a letterhead to my e-mail that looks like my 7 year old could of typed it up, and she was rude, pushy and threatened to have a warrant issued by 3 o'clock. Does anyone know where and how to report this to have these people locked up? I did a phone number research and it says that the number is located in Tampa, Fl.
i am gettig a call about a check I wrote, the amount i supposedly owe is $1354.45 to a Royce & associates out of Tampa fl. can anyone verify this so called lawyer?
Basically, when I complained to representative Samantha Moody at Royce & Associates (813-444-4511) , about harassing my family, she got angry, insulting and hung up the telephone on me.
She left a detailed message about collecting a debt from a family member who I do not have any contact with at all. When I questioned how Samantha Moody received my telephone number and why she was harassing multiple people in my family with the same last name as the person owing the debt, she took offense, got nasty and hung up the phone. I then called back to ask to speak with a supervisor but she answered, said she was the supervisor and called me an "idiot" before hanging up the phone on me again.
I called that number back but someone would pick up the phone and hang up before I could say anything. Finally, I got another supervisor named Torry at 813-444-4510. She said that I should not have called them back. Okay, this is what I was trying to complain about to them, but now the collection agency does not think I should call back, weird!? So, when I asked if it was okay for Samantha to call someone an idiot, Torry admitted Samantha was out of line. Definitely. Samantha's behavior was rude and disrespectful as if I had the actual debt. Collections Agencies should not have free range to insult and belittle anyone. Additionally, Samantha left all of his personal information about the claim on my answering machine.
Royce & Associate is not listed as a registered business in Florida (sun biz.org) although they are located in Tampa, Florida.
It is not a law office or even a registered company in Florida; despite them pretending to be a legitimate Florida Collection Agency. Report them if they continue to harass you. Also, they are not associated with the Florida Better Business.
Report this. I do not believe this to be a legitimate business or collection effort. These people called my mother to inquire about my sister and some bad debt. Basically they told my mom that if my sister didn't settle up her debt in 1 hour, they would "file a warrant for her arrest." I called them back as I am a licensed attorney in the State of Minnesota. Number 1 - a law firm, attorney or collection agent has no authority or ability to "file a warrant for an arrest." This must be done by the County/District Attorney - OR the State Attorney General's office. This is a mere threat by this company to try to get people freaked out over the idea of a warrant in order to induce them to pay. I dealt with this "Tory" individual when I called, and basically told him that I was an attorney (gave him my name and license #) and explained that he and I both knew they couldn't do what he was suggesting. He told me that he deals with "scum of the earth" every day and "at least he has a job and dont write bad checks" - implying that my sister did. Bottom line is that IF in fact this was a legit deal, there is an entirely different set of protocol that they should follow. A person whom has a bad debt against them should be sued, and a judgment would be entered against them if the collections company was successful. THEN, they can move to garnish wages, etc ... a debt collection company or attorney cannot themselves decide to file criminal charges in anyway - this is not their call. Nor is it usually enough of a big deal that any District/County Attorney or State Attorney General would review the case then elect to file charges (especially when dealing with such small dollar amounts and such a long passage of time). Either way if you get a call like this - tell them to do what they must, but do not settle up with them. They can make their threats but it is unlikely to amount to anything. If it were me, I would rather take my chance by dealing with a bad debt the legitimate way - in Court - than by agreeing to give these unprofessional people a dime - especially given their method of collection ... threats that they cant even follow through with. Good luck.
I am getting phone calls and threats from them. They said they had me on film with the check? I ask them to send me information about the debt they wouldnt mail it they said they could email it only. I ask for the streat address of the company and they said they didnt have one it was a P.O box and if i had ever been to tampa bay I would have known this. He was rude. I told him I would take my chances and get a laywer his comment was well if you settle up this debt it would be cheaper then a lawyer. I mean really do they think we are stupid? Does anyone else know how we can check the validatiy of the debt owed? He is saying it would be a felony if I didnt settle up.
