i received a vm from a young woman by the name of Lisa. I listened to the message, and was so upset, that i called her back.In her vm, she made it sound it sound like someone was fling a felony against me.  She said she was looking for a friend of mine, and that it was a serious felony matter. Whoa!
I tried to press her for info as much as I could. She said my friend took out a loan, would not say who loan was from, and has not paid it back.Lisa said this happened in 2008. She went on to say she needed to take a recorded statement from him, or if he has attorney, the attorney could be present. She claimed he was accused of check fraud, and impersonating fraudulent check. WTH? i tried pressing her for more info, and she gave me a case number, but then she passed her phone to her supervisor. His name was Tory Dickson, and said he could not give me anymore info because I was not a relative. he gave his phone number as 813-444-4510. I asked where he was calling from, and he said Tampa FL. I called my friend as soon as I finished the call. My friend said he received the same message, as soon as they talked to me. He knows nothing about what they are talking about. He called his attorney, and left a message for her, and sent her an email as well. He had to get to work. I did a reverse phone look up on itellus. Other than a land line number, nothing else came up, other than Assoc Royce. I did some further research, and found many complaints about Global Trust. Most complaints I have read have been the same type of scenario as my friends. It sounds like a total scam to me. Strange that I got this call, but read that some people's friends and relatives have been called numerous times, just hounding them for any info. My friend has never received any type of paper work in the mail re: this accusation. If they have phone numbers, then they should have addresses too. Sounds like a total scam to me. Don't give them any info. Tell them you will report them to the State Attorney general, FBI, FTC. Has anyone else received calls from this number? I forgot to get the name of the company because i was in shock when I called them back.

Report this. I do not believe this to be a legitimate business or collection effort. These people called my mother to inquire about my sister and some bad debt. Basically they told my mom that if my sister didn't settle up her debt in 1 hour, they would "file a warrant for her arrest." I called them back as I am a licensed attorney in the State of Minnesota. Number 1 - a law firm, attorney or collection agent has no authority or ability to "file a warrant for an arrest." This must be done by the County/District Attorney - OR the State Attorney General's office. This is a mere threat by this company to try to get people freaked out over the idea of a warrant in order to induce them to pay. I dealt with this "Tory" individual when I called, and basically told him that I was an attorney (gave him my name and license #) and explained that he and I both knew they couldn't do what he was suggesting. He told me that he deals with "scum of the earth" every day and "at least he has a job and dont write bad checks" - implying that my sister did. Bottom line is that IF in fact this was a legit deal, there is an entirely different set of protocol that they should follow. A person whom has a bad debt against them should be sued, and a judgment would be entered against them if the collections company was successful. THEN, they can move to garnish wages, etc ... a debt collection company or attorney cannot themselves decide to file criminal charges in anyway - this is not their call. Nor is it usually enough of a big deal that any District/County Attorney or State Attorney General would review the case then elect to file charges (especially when dealing with such small dollar amounts and such a long passage of time). Either way if you get a call like this - tell them to do what they must, but do not settle up with them. They can make their threats but it is unlikely to amount to anything. If it were me, I would rather take my chance by dealing with a bad debt the legitimate way - in Court - than by agreeing to give these unprofessional people a dime - especially given their method of collection ... threats that they cant even follow through with. Good luck.

Lyndsey, Thank you for the information. I did google Royce & Associates, and they are based in Tampa, FL. Several complaints filed re: Royce. It appears they have several offices located in FL. I did report Royce, the person I spoke to, Lisa, and her Supervisor Tory to the necessary agencies. I forgot to get Royce's address, but did give the phone numbers that they contacted me from. The vm, which i saved, said This call is intended for, jm, and you have been accused of check fraud, etc. When I called back, they inquired about a good friend of mine. They were not interested in me at all. Their message did piss me off! My friend, dj, ran his report today, from all 3 agencies, and all was well. No outstanding debt, collections, nothing, zip, nada. Everything was fine. He reported Royce to the necessary agencies as well. I check my report every year to review for identity theft, etc. All is well. We know there's not much that the FTC, FBI tips, or the State Attorney General can do about this matter, but hopefully, someone will catch up to Royce, and others, who do this to so many people. We knew this was not legit, but the scare tactics throw you off completely. That's their MO, I guess. Thanks again, and I hope people read these posts, and do not fall for Royce's tactics. I agree, if you are dealing with a bad debt, settle it the legitimate way, in Court. Do not give Royce a dime.

These people called my uncle's phone  and left a message for me,when I called them back they tried to get my debit card number saying that I had written a 3000.00 check and I would be picked up in 24 hours. The lady Christine that I spoke with put Lisa on the phone who she claim was a investigator for check fraud in Florida,so I spoke with Lisa and she stated if I paid 1500.00 I would not go to jail. WTH!!! I told her sorry but I've  never lived in Florida and never wrote any checks.I let them know that they could do what they needed to do that's when she told me that they would pick me up from my job the next morning. I asked how could they pick me up from my job when they didn't even have my phone number. These people call me every day harassing me,I have reported them to the attorney general and this is a scam, so beware.
