They called my mom in another city, asked for my dead grandmother, then when my mom went along with it, and said she was my grandmother, they told her that they were auditing my bank account and needed to reach me. They call my home ask for someone by a different name. Like that person is working for my son, saying that he is being audit by the city. He will be in the area and have a small window of time open, to take care of this so he would not go to court. He can help him with is audit.
A woman called from this number, referring to a credit card debt she said I had to pay off immediately or I would be sued by the issuing bank. I did not recall this debt, so I checked my credit report. It was not on there. I called the issuing bank, and they had no record of this card number in my name. I called the collector back, and she referred me to her "manager," who said he would contact the original agency and get back to me. So far, I haven't heard anything! Be careful, I'm fairly certain this is a scam. I could have easily just given them $1000 over the phone to pay off my "debt" and avoid a personal lawsuit! They're very intimidating...and convincing.
