Unfortunately, while what these "people" (or is it just "animals") do is in fact against the law, it is pretty much impossible for most agencies to find and stop them until the protocol flaws that do allow spoofing caller ID are fixed. I am quite sure the equipment the NSA uses to monitor and store our completely legal online activities could be used instead to trace and stop these credit card fraud abusers and other illegal activities, but they seem to think it is more important to record and store details about Aunt Mary's and Grandma Smith's online conversations about the children in the family than to trace down the thousands of spoofed IP telephone calls happening each day that are used in attempting to defraud American citizens and take their money away into foreign countries where it can be used against America instead of being spent within the country for goods and services that help America; this includes the payment of taxes that fund the government, so you would think it would be in the government's best interests to stop these credit card scammers!
We are on the NO CALL LIST and still get calls of this nature, most recently from (814) 546-3547. I asked them to "kindly, please remove our number from their list" the telemarketer shouted obscenities at me! Isn't that a form of harassment? They call (from different numbers) every single day!
they say they are from "card services". want to lower my credit card interest. when i tell them to take me off their call list, they immediately hang up. they have called at least 3 times.
I had the same phone call. First a woman asked me the leading question, "You're calling about lowering your credit card interest right?" And so I answered, "Well I don't know, how do you have access to my credit card information?", and with that the woman hung up. Scammers, there's got to be a way to get these vultures arrested.
