Every day for the last 3 weeks I have gotten calls from this number I have a caller id so I can check the the number , when the a. machine pick up. I have the roadside assistance, but have not used for almost 5 months.
I decided to call 1-815-217-2103 after Google couldn't give me a definite, specific company or individual. It was a recorded message indicating that it was the AARP Roadside Assistance Call Line. I was asked to press #1 about my request for roadside assistance. Uh...I'm sitting here in my home in front of my computer; my car is sitting in the garage. I have *not* called for assistance. (Nor has anyone else in my family.) I then called AARP Roadside Assistance and was assured that this did **not8* come from them and that it was most likely someone trying to get information from me that they could use illegally. CALLER BEWARE of "Auto Meter" calls.
This really was an AARP roadside follow up call. About %50 of the time people cannot even enter their own numbers correctly. If you are an AARP member, some tow truck driver could have screwed up. Funny thing, Auto Meter is a local company that makes automotive parts and uses the same VoIP provider as our call center. This screwup happens a few times a year.
Notascam, this should NEVER happen even once a year, let alone a "few times a year." This is absolutely ridiculous in this day and age. It is a scam, unwanted, and will be treated by us as such. It's not a "funny thing" and you and Auto Meter need to get your sh*t together. Your story here just does not wash.
I have gotten calls from this number and do not answer ,I let the answering machine pick up.No message left just a computerized sound , noise like it was going through numbers to call.
