A man called from this number demanding to speak to my elderly mom. When I told him no (please excuse the language, it was his not mine), he replied "you can shove my dick up your [***] and spin around on it". Why is anyone allowed to call an individuals house and speak in this manner? This number needs to be identified, the caller needs to face criminal charges!
They aren't "allowed to", anymore than people are allowed to rob banks. But it is difficult to track down the person who committed the offense, much less prevent it.
If this caller becomes a recurring problem, I suggest taking steps to record your calls. Try to get information from them without giving any. If you can figure out who this is, then it becomes easier to do something.
The caller seems to be using a VOIP line provided by bandwidth.com. Because of porting though, this is not a certain fact. You might want to give Bandwidth a call and tell them that your elderly mother is receiving obscene and abusive calls from one of their customers. They may want you to have made a police report before they will do anything. Remember - you want to get the folks at Bandwidth on your side - they are not the ones who called you - they are just a phone company.
