call was an automated call claiming to be from "Merchant Bank" it sounded like. Stated that my debit card had been "locked" and to call an 800 number to unlock it or press #2 to transfer directly to their "security" team to verify my account info. I hit #2 and it asked me for my debit card number. I immediately recognized this as a phishing technique and a scam, and hung up. Reverse lookup for the number brought up "Eastern Isotope" in Romeoville IL. Googled the name and they are a pharmacological business dealing in nuclear medicine, such as Chemotherapy, etc. Just wanted to put this out there. Had a question too, can scammers use someone else phone number to call you to make it look like someone else? Has Eastern Isotope on the Caller ID but automated call said it was from Merchant Bank.

I got a call from the same number yesterday but was unable to answer. I thought it odd that this number that I didn't recognize didn't leave a message. I googled it out of curiosity and ended up here.
To answer your question, there are devices/systems that allow you to make any number you wish appear on the caller id regardless off your actual number. Have you considered that someone at this company might be making these calls?
Another call - no message. I received a call from this number today. Same thing, googled it and came here. I don't have an account with a Merchant's Bank either. Sounds like yet another phishing scam. Avoid them at all costs! Any time someone calls about your bank account or debit card info, hang up and call the banks you DO have an account with to verify if they're trying to contact you.
