called yesterday, I picked up and eventually someone asked "hello, hello..." I hung up without engaging him....I have no record of calls from this number in the past. Checked my magic jack emails and this was the first call from this number.

I get lots of 815 calls lately. Two of them were Caller ID'd as "FAV" - Foundation for American Veterans, look up this thread about that number:

When I'm being hunted by some fake charity or debt collector scam that I have already blocked, I notice that a lot of my calls a) come from the same area code as the scam and b) are identified as "no match" when I search for them on whitepages.com. And often, they call only once. So I think these fake numbers are feelers from the blocked grifters to see if they can get any pickup from my number.
I accidentally picked up, against my better judgement, and it was a scammer from the Illinois Policemen's Benevolent Assn. or some such charity scam. Have had other similar calls from same area and exchange, which are probably all spoofed. It is now blocked like the others!
