A guy called from this # and immediately asked me how I was. My standard reply to callers like this is, "Too busy to deal with calls that aren't directly related to our company's business." The guy got all flustered and asked to speak to one of our presidents (by name). I asked what the call was regarding and he told me he was with UPS and that he was calling regarding a package for Mr. X. I already didn't believe that he was with UPS or calling about a package for Mr. X, so I told him I'd transfer him to our Receiving Dept. to discuss any incoming deliveries from UPS. He faltered a bit but said OK. After he was on hold less than 10 seconds, he hung up (of course).
the same thing just happened to me, Nancy. He dialed my direct work number. Asked if he was speaking to me (using my first name, which I don't go by). I said yes and he hung up.
This phone # called and a Indian man asked for someone who doesn't work here. Since we get a lot of calls from different phone #s from people with Indian accents asking for people who do not work here I thought it might be yet another one of these scammers so I asked where they were calling from. He said he was calling from Cornell University and wanted to book this person to speak at their school for tomorrow. Uh-huh. I'm 100% certain that Cornell University isn't that haphazard in their bookings. This is another lying scammer trying to get a hold of presumably someone that owes a debt or scam some innocent person out of $. Such a waste of my time!
This guy just called my work number, asked for me by name, even spelling my last name and when I said Yes? He just hung up. I won't be answering when that number shows up on my caller ID again.
Someone called with a heavy accent to my work as he asked for my name I replied yes, and he hung up. Seeing he called my place of business we tried calling back to hopefully find out what was going on seeing we thought it was odd. The phone does not connect. 815-695-7849
