Accidentally picked up the phone prior to the caller ID showing the number. Female caller stated she was from Com Ed electric and that I was eligible for a discount on my electric bill. I advised her I didn't have Com Ed for my electric and she stated she would make a note of that and hung up. I'm getting SO sick of these scam type calls. I reported one number to the DNC list regarding the Microsoft virus scam and I haven't received another one since but who the heck has the time to report every single scam number??!!
The caller from 815-887-0097 called, and upon my answering "hello" said nothing. I waited and listened to silence at the other end of the line for about 10 seconds, and hung up. Apparently I didn't sound stupid enough to talk to.
This is a scam!!!!I received a call from a woman pretending to pose as a "representative for Comed" offering me to "lock into a rate reduction on my bill". After saying I have never heard anything about this and wanted to talk to my husband, she hung up on me. But just so you know all I had to do was give an Ok and who knows what they would have done.
Caller ID showed HARVARD IL. Slight chance that it might be my wife's Harvard relatives calling I answered. I said "Hello" twice before a female rushed onto the call to answer me. I knew right away it was a scam call. She settled right down to deliver her script. She said she was a representative of Com Ed and she wondered if I had read the literature enclosed with my bill and that she would be able to help me lower my electric rate. You can tell when someone has made so many calls that the have their script memorized. She was that person. But I interrupted her here and told her that I'd already received many calls about this scam. She tried to defend herself but I continued with, "Thank you for your call ... And I hope you never find somebody that falls for your scam."
