Called my employers company and did basically the same thing but this time they threatened to report me to the cops or as "Shannon " said the " higher authority " after she said that her manager took the phone tried to talk to him but he then hung up on me.
2nd call in 2 days from this group representing ATT. I called ATT and they said it is not them. Don't know who these people are but am curious as what they really want. If anyone knows I wish they would post it here. I know it was a telemarketer because there were numerous people talking in the background.
Also received a call from this number. Claimed he (John Paua) was calling from AT&T. He said was calling to confirm my new lower rate. I was immediately suspicious as I recently upgraded my services with AT&T and have a designated contact person. A quick search on google for this phone number brought me to this page. Thanks Cyndi for your post. I asked the caller where he was calling from and he said Ohio, but a quick google search shows 815 area code to be located in Illinois. Judging from the strange beeps and changes in the connection, I would guess the call was being recorded. I agree with Cyndi in that this was a telemarketer because I too heard numerous people talking in the background. My intuition says some sort of scam!
Same thing. Second call in two days. Foreigner claiming to represent AT&T and stated that since we pay our bills on time and are a loyal customer we have earned a discount on our long distance. I told him we didn't use AT & T for our long distance and he said he was sorry - he must have dialed the wrong number! These folks are obviously service slammers.
This number calls and there is no one there. My reply is "Don't call if you don't want to talk". How do I make this stop?? This is a business phone and we get this call several times a week!
