Actually, just called back. Voicemail says "Thank you for calling the fundraising center. We are unable to take your call at this time" and it disconnects.
A reasonably polite woman called about 8:30 last evening. She asked for my father (long since deceased). I said he was no longer alive. She said "they" would update their records. It more or less sounded legitimate.
It is not legitimate, if you are on the national and state DO NOT CALL LIST! Answered by speaker button, but sat in silence, and lady asking if I was there, by name. That means they do not just collect random numbers, but collect directory information. I do not and will not do ANY business over the phone, unless I am the one who called them and KNOW who they are.
Caller said she was fundraising for Breast Cancer Research & that October is awareness month. I asked how they got my number and all she would say is that they will take me off list but would not tell me how. Sounded like a scam so beware.
