Called asking about smoke detectors in our home. Informed them this was a business phone number and asked them to take us off the list. Person identified as "Ken" said, "This isn't a scam, so there is no reason to take your F-ing (yes he used the actual word) number off our list."
Received call, I answered and lady just kept saying "Hello and then hung up. When I called back right away (3 times) recording stated that number had changed and new number was unknown.
I disconnected the line before waiting to see what was going to happen. I have an 817 area code and so many of these prefixes are scamming numbers so after reading these comments, I am not surprised to see this one added to my list.
Yep. Scam. Wanted to conduct a survey about whether we have smoke detectors in our house. Yesss...... it is building code afterall. Clearly just an attempt to start a dialogue. I didn't answer the question and asked to be removed from their list and then said goodbye. When the guy started trying to engage me again without acknowledging my request, I hung up. Clearly a scam. Don't know what their angle to steal my money really was, don't care.
