Sean from a Home Improvement scammer company called on this line from a CA number. At first he offered assistance with home remodeling and then changed it to just roofing, for some reason. Either we had a bad connection or Sean decided I was a catfish and the call was disconnected. Called the number back and received an error message indicating the number is disconnected or no longer in service. The scammers are using a Caller ID Spoofer.
Caller I D stated this call from 8183628952 showed it was coming from Maria Valdez. When I answered you could tell it was from an Auto-Dialer machine, typicle of phone scams. No one spoke, after I said hello I heard it transfer the call to the unnamed phone available that no one answering. I knew it was a scam .
THIS Iformation Has Congormed My Thought Of A New Way Of Getting To Us Through Out Phones.
I Use Ooma. I Bought My Home Phone Mumber Of 38 Years. I never wanted to have to call any person or entity I did business and give them out new number. We have extremely large families and a couple of businesses. I don't care for answering machines and if the person does not have your new number they are worthless anyway. My husband was retiring very soon and we were going to be doing a lot of travel, many times staying in one place 6 months. Cell phones are not 100% reliable. Especially if your carrier does not provide coverage in the rural area you are in, and there is NO provider in the small rural area you are spending time in. We also changed to Ooma because after you purchase the equipment there is only a fee paid that is real to the taxes required by the area you are in. My phone bill dropped to less than 4.00 a month. No matter where I live, it is still a local call from my home town, dial my number and it still ring st my home no matter where I am.
This is not an advertisement for that phone service. I did it to drop my bill prior to retirement and not to have to notify ANYONE I had moved.
So this is my point - when ever I call others they think it is a call from me in my home town in Az. AND when I get thes Scam calls they think they are calling me in Az., even real, yet irritating sales call say " we are going to be in you area next week" and I wanted to make an appointment and talk to this legitimate business - they were not in my area. I made appointment and they never showed.
They can not find me. They are in my home town going to our home that is rented out and never finding us.
The SCAMMERS are using others phone numbers do we will answer the call, or avoid being blocked. In the last month I have received calls from my home town, from businesses, local persons I new, was not a close find, but a very small town. One was from the Fire Dept in my home town, after many of theses calls that a person with a strange accent speaks to you, I have asked where they are calling from and they give me a large city in Az name. I won't talk to a liar.
They are using local caller ID'd that belong to real businesses or real people to get past your call blocking and being put on a blocking program like my Ooma uses. You are not going to block a call from the legitimate Fite Dept.'s real phone number.
So, NOW just because it shows a name that is legit. It is not that person. There phone number has been hijacked by the scammers computer do you won't block them and you will answer.
I have known of app like this and even have one I can use, but never have. But the Scammers are using our numbers to get to us now.
BE AWARE, they are getting around us by using legit numbers to show on our caller ID's. Numbers we WONT put on a blocking list.
Received a call from 818-362-8952 and it's a scammer. Indian accent caller said they were the largest home improvement company in the US. I think their name is Home Improvement Contractors. I told the caller that I'm in New Jersey and if I needed any type of home improvement I wouldn't need to have someone from California do the work.
