I was home sick and my TV flashed incoming call so I answered it since it was a 530 area code and I live in the 530 area code. Voice on the other end asked for me by name and I asked who was calling. They said they were with (some mumbled) research company and wanted to know if I or anyone else in my family had arthritis and wanted to make a $1000.00 participating in a research study. I immediately hung up. There has to be a scam somewhere. I have participated in legitimate research study's and NO ONE pays that much money for you to participate. Research study's are usually funded by grants and you get paid a very nominal amount $50.00 to $100.00 depending on how much time you had to spend completing logs/phone interviews during the course of the study. They fact that he mumbled the name of the company and did it again when I asked a second time (excuse me, who?) and the amount of money they were offering AND that almost everyone seems to have someone in their family with arthritis, tipped me that this was not legit. They are looking to gain your personal information most likely (name (which they already had), address, SSN and then they were probably going to want a bank account number for "depositing" they money "up front" (no research study would do that). Blocked number.
