Same deal. I received a call about 5 weeks ago offering free shipping supplies in exchange for my company address (to send me a catalog). Against my better judgment, I agreed to receive Sharpies. They arrived, alright. But then, 5 weeks later, I was slapped with an invoice via fax for $113.
I complained to Kelly, the operator, who had Lorie, the supervisor, call me back.
Notice that no invoice was sent via US Postal Service, which indicates something shady is happening. Instead, it was faxed as a "second collection notice". I will return the sharpies (Lorie did give me an RMA, and said she'll send UPS to pick up)... but no way I am giving them a credit card number or a check even if they tell me the order is for 50 cents!
A company that called themself W.I.T. called me and asked to verify my address so that they could send me a catalog. Instead, they sent shrink wrap that I didn't order. Luckily, I caught it when the UPS driver arrived and I refused the order. I couldn't find their company anywhere online. I looked up the address: 7405 Woodlee, Van Nuys, CA 91406 and some other company name comes up. I got this address off the boxes that they sent to me. Very shady business.
Update. I called them and let them know that I didn't order anything from them and that I refused the package they tried to send to me. They were very rude to me on the phone. I just recieved an invoice for the product that I didn't order. They call themselves W.I.T. or Wholesale Industrial Tape. Underneath the name it says Plastic and Medical Supplies. I have searched and searched for this company and cannot find it anywhere. It is so incredibly wrong to send product and an invoice to someone that didn't order anything. I am lucky that I caught it.
