At 9:22 AM on May 30, 2014, in California, I received a phone call from 818.924.3027, I answered the call and I heard what sounded like a person identify themselves as Sue Parker and ask me if I was interested in purchasing insurance, I was able to determine that the caller was not a live person but in fact a computer making what is commonly known as a robocall. A robocall is a phone call that uses a computerized autodialer to deliver a pre-recorded message, as if from a robot, hence the name. California prohibits any robocall unless there is an existing relationship. Federal law embodied in 47 U.S. Code § 227 - Restrictions on use of telephone equipment makes it illegal to engage in robocalling activity. Knowing that the computer would not divulge who was the real entity behind the robocall I continued the call in order to find out what entity was violating the law. Eventually I was transferred to a live person who informed me that S and R Insurance Group was the entity behind the robocall. I contacted S and R Insurance and was informed that a company by the name of Call Creator Plus made the initial call to me. I attempted to speak with someone at Call Creator Plus and record the phone call regarding the illegal robocall but they refused to speak to me on a recorded call.
