Received multiple calls from them throughout the week. I finally answered. They claim to work for a student loan forgiveness company under the Obama care act. They then asked me my email and I verified it. I received an email from FASFA seconds later that said "Forgot My Password Request" then the guy asked me for the code in the email. I hung up right away. It felt very sketchy, if you work for a company under FASFA shouldn't you go through a process to confirm that person's identify and you wouldn't need a person's password to access their account anyways because you're suppose to be on a server that can access all that info. Definitely didn't feel real, they are probably trying to steal your identity because you have sensitive information on FASFA accounts like your SSN#, parents SSN#, and address.
FAFSA has your e mail address since you give it to them when you sign up. What they did was they went to the site tried to sign in to your account claiming that they "forgot" the password. FAFSA then sent you an e mail with a number to enter a new password. That is why they wanted that number. They no doubt wanted all your information, but they might have tried to convince you that you qualified for a "grant" and that all you needed to do was to pay them some money for that imaginary grant.
