I got a call from a man with a very thick Indian/Pakistani or some other sub-continent accent, claiming to be with 1st National Services, and that my loan (which I did NOT apply for) was approved for $5,000, and to call them back immediately! We've run into these scams before...it goes a little like this: "We'll give you the loan, but you need to go to a Walgreen's or a money store to purchase a Visa 'green' debit card, put $400 on it, and fax the information to a phone number, as a 'good faith' deposit." You're out the $400, and you never hear from them again, unless they call you for more money, because you were gullible enough to fall for their spiel in the first place! WAKE UP, PEOPLE!! These scammers prey on the poor souls who don't know any better, especially seniors, and good folks get duped out of their fixed incomes or hard-earned money when they are being lied to about the law coming after them, taking them to jail, and seizing everything they own! Don't you believ e it!! Report them to the ICC, FTC, FBI, and local law authorities, especially if they give you enough information to hang themselves! I think all this mess started when companies sprang up on the Internet offering high interest loans with no credit check, and the securitiy measures were, and still are, terrible, so that every crook in the tech world can hack into any of those so-called "secure" websites, and get all your information! Case-in-point" Target and Neiman-Marcus!
