I used to get these things all the time in Phoenix. They would leave messages telling me that I (Wayne) had a complaint filed and they wanted my side of the story. Even provided a case number. Problem is the number they called was never associated with the(middle) name Wayne and the case number applied to absolutely nothing in the AZ court system!
They called me, fine I can block calls. They started calling people I know... Oh man. To start off, I was very polite, and so were they. I called, it took me to "INK associates" and informed them that my attorney advised I get their legal information and collect any data they have on me. The operator then passed me onto another person, who was also very polite. I gave him my case number and he provided data on a delinquent credit card case of mine from 2004 (This is 2017) I advised him that the statute of limitations on a debit that old is very past. He agreed, apologized and removed all phone numbers on my account from their system.
These people are starting to really pi** me off!!
The lady that i spoke with said there is a legal complaint against me I said "for what" she said she doesnt know and doesnt know who filed the complaint.
Then she kept yelling over me wouldnt let me speak.
So i hung up
A month later now its a guy calling me.
I told him to quit calling or i would call police.
Hopefully they quit calling
Received a call from this number asking for my ex-husband of thirty years. Definitely scammers . If they were legit they would have better information about they are supposedly looking for. I told them they had the wrong number.
This is absolutely a collection agency. More than likely a bunch of un-qualified ppl in a call center telling ppl that they have charges, or legal action against them. What they are doing is illegal and they are also calling from masked numbers which is also illegal. They are saying that they are a locating agency because otherwise they would have to inform the person that they are calling that they are in fact a collection agency which at that point they will get hung up on so there objective is to get the reference # and a phone # to as many ppl as possible so hopefully the individual owing the debt will call. They are just scraping the easy money off the top. This does not comply with the FDCPA(fair debt collection practice act) if you find out where to send an email or fax, send them a letter of intent to discontinue contact or go straight to the attorney General in the state that they are pulling all of this [***] in. Ps they will always be changing their number and using an alias. They hate false info because it [***] with their way of finding people easier. They depend on everything you tell them.
