What this is, is absolutely a so-called pharmacy from India trying to get you to place a large order for medications made in that country. Over there they can produce the meds cheaply and make a good deal of profit selling it to people in the U.S for a highly marked up price.. The problem is, if you do this you are most likely breaking U.S. laws purchasing the meds without prescription, and since they are overseas they do not care whether or not there are laws broken because they aren't held accountable. They do not get into trouble by these laws, but if you buy, YOU can get yourself in BIG trouble, especially if the pills you order are listed as a controlled substance. These pills have to go through customs and if they catch them entering the U.S., YOU will be the one possibly getting into serious trouble, not them. All they will get is what they wanted in the first place, and that is your money. I'd suggest you never take them up on any offer. Most of the time the calls come after you've ordered something before, and they incessantly call trying to get you to order again because they make a nice profit on a sale. I suggest you NEVER pick up the phone when you see their number on caller ID. Perhaps that way, over time, they'll stop the calls. But if you answer, even if just to hang up, or you call them back, they will refresh your number as "reachable" and will call all the more. Just don't answer in any way and the calls should stop with the passage of time
Called today, a Tuesday, at 11:10 AM. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a voicemail. Even though they only called once today, I recognized the number from past calls and checked my call records online and saw that I have had 14 missed calls from them in the last 6 weeks. So, I called back. At first, I was met with a recording telling me I had reached the sales department for the online pharmacy. Red Flag #1 -- they didn't say a company, just "online pharmacy". If it was legit, it would have said "Walgreens online pharmacy" or "ABC Company Name online pharmacy". After I was prompted to select my language, a man answered. Red Flag #2 - The man spoke broken English with an incredibly thick Indian accent, even though the area code was the same as mine. As there are very few places, if any, in the Midwest who hire people to specifically work in a call center that barely speak English, I have to believe they used an area code spoofer. Not a good sign. I told the man I didn't know who his company was (I've never used an online pharmacy) or what they wanted to sell me, but I wasn't interested, to remove me immediately from their call list, and that I was documenting this interaction so that if I received any further calls i would be able to report them to the FCC. He was agreeable and told me to hold on for a moment, put me on hold, and when he came back on (this is the scariest part!) he said "Ok Emily, I have removed you from our list." Red Flag #3 - I DID NOT give him my name. This means they already somehow had my name attached to my phone number. I can only imagine that the bought a whole list of names and numbers from some data mining company that i somehow had gotten stuck on. If they call again, I'm calling the FCC. Obviously this is some sort of scam. Either do not answer, or if they call incessantly like they did to me, answer and tell them to remove your number, document the date and time of your request, and if it happens again, file a complaint!!!
I don't answer these. I recently purchased medication from an online pharmacy where my CC went through a bank in China and medication was sent from India. This was the 3rd time I've purchased, but, the 1st from a new company. From the ones I've answered in the past, they are insistent I buy more, needed or not. Don't answer!!
