Caller Id says "Allstate". First time they called, I let it go to the machine. They disconnected with no message. This must be a sales call or some other crap. They called again tonight. I hit the BIG RED BUTTON. Blocked!
I called the number back and was placed on hold while an agent came to the line and was warned 'this call may be recorded for quality assurance'. When the agent came on the line, I explained that someone from this number keeps calling my phone and hanging up, rather than leave a message. The agent asked for my name. I told her that wasn't important, but then recited the phone number that keeps being called. She then asked me if my name is "_________", which I confirmed it is. She said they are simply calling on behalf of my agent to invite me down to my agent's office to do an annual review of my coverages and to see what changes need to be made. I asked, "Is there some reason a message is not being left, and you're just hanging up, instead?" She replied, "Oh, it's not our policy to leave a message, as we don't know whose phone it is and we don't want..."
I cut her off and said, "Oh, so it's not REALLY that important, after all. Thanks" and hung up.
Yeah. They're calling ME to set an appointment to come to THEIR office to sit in THEIR waiting room for the opportunity to listen to a sales pitch so THEY can get more of MY money. Thanks...but, no thanks. If I buy another house, buy another car, have another baby, hit the mega-millions lottery

I thought it was important so I went in the all-state office. My agent says I didn't have to rush in. All could have been handled on the phone. The head quarters don't tell u that. Ugh what a waste.
