This is UHC, United HealthCare calling their Insured in an attempt to permit UHC to conduct tests, home visits, or other unwelcome acts upon the Insured. I have called them back, refused the offer and was put on their "do not call list". However, there is some length of time before your name and number are removed from the solicitation list, if you are ever removed at all. They are a for profit company and NEVER call the Insured with genuine, beneficial offers. One time it was for a Diabetic Retinopathy Myopia Exam. Oh great, I get an eye exam, maybe some real glasses! Nope. The doctor was far away, almost an hour drive to some strip mall eyeglasses store. This doctor put drops in my eyes, looked at my retinas, shot puff of air at my eyes, and that was it. Wait for eye drops to wear off so I could drive home. The doctor would NOT give me test results or explain much, he said UHC paid for the test so they get the results. My own PCP could not make sense of it, huge was of time and gas for driving. More calls for a United HeathCare home visit. UCH is not coming to my home to give me sponge baths, clean my bathroom, or go shopping for me. This is another tactic to "spy" on the patient, looking for risky living conditions as the eye test could reveal serious eye problems down the road. They are trying to "fish" for reasons to cut your benefits, raise your premiums, or drop you altogether. Since they will not stop calling me, I put them in my call blocker. Cost about 5 bucks on play store and does a great job. Phone never rings but does pickup and drop the call in one second so the caller cannot leave a message. Poof, gone!
United Health Care also used this number to "help" you by reviewing your medications. Turns out that their purpose seems to be to switch you to formulary meds that may not work as well, but are cheaper for them to insure. I don't mind formulary drugs when they work, but I'll go with my doctor's advice. I smell a rat and in any case, I don't like to be hustled. Come on, United. At least be frank about the real reason for your calls.
If you don't answer and then call them back, you get a recorded system that eventually (after confirming your DOB) allows you to answer 'no' to refilling a med and 'no' to having them continue to call you.
