Received a call from this number at 4:56 a.m., PDT. Twas a recording. I can see how some people might find this intimidating, but the government wont call you; they'll write you.
They called and left a message.
Heavy Middle Eastern accent...
He said his name is James Castin....
And his message said:
"If you ignore this message and do not call him back".... "It will be a Federal Violation...as you are to appear before a Magistrate or Federal Jury to clear this matter up!!"

ABC World News Tonight did a story on these scum a couple weeks ago. Today in New York stories were done on radio about people in the city being threatened. The truth is...these vermin are from overseas and use the internet to make their calls. They cannot be traced. Who knows? Maybe if some effort was made by government techs they could be found. But then it would take cooperation from a foreign government and that's impossible so the best thing to do is keep hanging up and blocking numbers. Their latest spoof says Madison,Florida.
I just got a call from that number too. The beginning of the message was cut off and then described the matter regarding the US Treasury and continued with the same "It will be a Federal Violation...as you are to appear before a Magistrate or Federal Jury to clear this matter up" described by others here. The end of the message "help us help you."
It sort of sounds like the call had an echo to it like he was talking in a cavernous lobby or something. He definitely had an accent of some sort.
Just got a call from this number. I've turned off my answering machine so can't verify the caller type. Other than it was criminal scum. Caller ID said Unknown Name, the sure sign of a scammer. I love this sight!! Thanks to the previous posters for confirming my suspicions.
